About

Agamemnon Varvitsiotis, PhD was born in Sparta, Greece, in 1930. During World War II, at just twelve years old, he served as a messenger and intelligence informant for the Greek Resistance against Nazi occupation—an early experience that shaped his lifelong engagement with freedom, ethics, and thought.

In 1950, he worked as a translator at the Canadian Embassy in Athens before immigrating to the United States. There, he continued his studies in theater and philosophy, deepening his exploration of classical thought and metaphysical inquiry.

In 1969, Varvitsiotis founded the Hellenic Center for Advanced Research in Metaphysics and Philosophy, an institution dedicated to preserving and advancing Greek philosophical tradition through contemporary scholarship.
